STEM is a group of academic disciplines that includes science, technology, engineering, and maths. More recently, art has joined the group to promote creativity and innovative thinking amongst children. They present high yielding careers but there is still a skills gap that the department of education are working to address. Teach Science at Home
As science teaches us about how the world works, there are very few resources that you’ll need. You can teach your child a handful of chemistry lessons from the kitchen and biology from the garden as you explore biodiversity.
Science Shows
If your child’s one that stays glued to the TV or their devices, science shows may be the one for them. There’s an endless number of science YouTubers that experiment and put their wild theories to the test on the platform. The mad scientists explain their methodology and reasoning using their knowledge and research which can help children to learn more about the different chemical processes.
Science Games
Games like operation can give children a feel of what it’s like to be a surgeon and teach them about the human body. They are fun and interactive ways of learning that can help make lessons more memorable. Science lab experiment kits also work well at this and can be good for aspiring chemists.
Create a Solar System Together
Space is huge. Billions and billions of light years big. There’s so much that we know and so little at the same time. It can really get them thinking and interested in science and technology. To explore space, you can create your own model using balloons and paint to help them get an idea of how small we really are in comparison to the rest of the solar system.
