3 Ways To Unwind When You Work From Home

Over the past two years more people than ever across the UK have been given the chance to work from home whether for yourself or for someone else.- and for many this is something that will continue in the future. There are so many pros to working from home so it is something that many have embraced. However, when your home becomes your workplace, it can be hard to separate the two – so here are some ways to unwind when you work from home

Make Sure You Switch Off

With your work equipment always at hand, it can be easy to think you will just dip into your emails and see if something urgent has had a response. Remind yourself that if your office was a commute from your home then you wouldn’t be able to do this and so it shouldn’t be expected. A separate room in your home to work from is ideal, but if this isn’t possible then at the end of the day pack away as much of your workday as possible, switch off your laptop and step away from the workday.

Take Time Out After Your Work Day

When you finish work in an office, you generally have a walk, drive or public transport journey to take before you get home and get started on a new set of chores. When you work from home it is tempting to shut down for the workday and immediately get started on your home jobs – but instead, take a few minutes out to relax and unwind. Remind yourself that if you were visiting a physical workplace then you would still be making the journey home and as such, there is no need to rush into doing jobs.

Look After Yourself

Working from home can be a great way to make sure that you have more time to do this – a stringent workday can keep us out the house for a good number of hours which can leave everything else feeling rushed – but working from home often gives us a bit more breathing space. Take advantage of this – have a leisurely start to the morning, go for a walk at lunchtime – whatever it takes for you to feel good, make time to do that whenever you can.
