It might seem only a few weeks ago since it was the summer holidays, but we’re in October which means it’s half-term month. Most of the good weather is behind us so getting organised for half term is a must if you want everyone to have fun – here are some tips.
Tag Team with Friends
Speak to your parenting friends now about what their plans are for half-term and how you can help each other out. Lots of households will be feeling the same about managing school holidays and so giving each other support is a great idea. For example, could you both have a day where the kids visit each other – that way the kids are entertained for at least a couple of days and the days that your kids are visiting their friends you get a rest – perfect.

Get Kids Involved
Get the kids involved in how the school holidays are going to be – explain that it can’t all be fun and adventure but that you would like it to be holidays that everyone can enjoy. So, get them to do a task in the holidays that you have all been putting off – a big sort out of their room for example in order to earn something like a movie night complete with popcorn and treats. You can also get them involved in things like meal planning and cooking dinners which is always fun.
Book a Big Treat
If you’re able to then booking a treat towards the end of the holidays gives everyone something to look forward to and can be used to help motivate good behaviour. This could be something like soft play, the cinema, bowling or somewhere else that they have all wanted to go. Looking for tickets and deals now often helps to keep trips like this much more affordable.
If you have any tips on getting organised for half term we’d love to hear them
