A trip to London is on the wishlist for many, but the worry of tourist traps and expensive entertainment means that many people are put off. However, the good news is that with some careful planning and mixing things up it’s perfectly possible to have an affordable trip to London – here are some tips to help.
Tourist Buses
Tourist buses are a great way to see London and hear all about the sights you are passing – if you look up the routes you’ll find that there are loads of them to choose from, which means that whatever areas of London you want to see there will be a trip to suit. However, these can be expensive – they’re aimed at tourists and as such they’re priced accordingly. However, normal public transport buses go all over the same places – and Google will you everything you need to know about these places. Google the things that you want to see and find out which standard bus routes head in that direction and you’ll be able to head there at the fraction of the cost.

Free Stuff
Perhaps one of the best things about visiting somewhere like London is the number of free things you can do – museums and art galleries are available in abundance. However, even without visiting these, there are plenty of things you can do – window shopping in places like Harrods makes for great fun and the M&M shop in Leicester Square is a world of fun. Add to this picnics in Hyde Park and other green areas and you’re on track for an affordable trip to London.
Eating Out
Eating whilst on holiday is often one of the biggest expenses, but there are ways to do it affordably. Apps like Too Good To Go are great for affordable food and they allow you to try a variety of places too; the food is often a mystery which can add to the fun. If you eat in places like Leicester Square and Oxford Street you’ll often pay a tourist premium so it’s better to head to small, less known places where places are more likely to be average rather than inflated.
