With the cost of living sharply on the rise, if you’re looking at ways to save money then you are far from alone. We’re all aware that things are starting to cost more & that energy bills are due to rise further, but wages aren’t matching this which means that saving money where we can is a must. Let’s look at ways to save money on your food shop:
Shop Your Own Cupboards
We’re all guilty of going to the supermarket with a vague idea of what we want and hoping for the best. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this as such, it often means that we end up forgetting the one item we went in for – come on, we’ve all been there. The first thing you should do is shop your own cupboards – go through the fridge, freezer and pantry and make a list of items you already have in your kitchen. This means that you can use these items up and that you’re not wasting money buying items that you already have at home.

Meal Plan
Having an idea of what you already have in your cupboards is a great start when it comes to meal planning because you can base meals around the items that you already have in the cupboard. You may well still need to buy some items when you go shopping but utilising what you have in the cupboard is a definite way to help ensure that you need to buy less.
Check For Discounts
Checking discounts may sound obvious but it is a step that many of us forget. Use the shop’s app to see if they have any discounts, sign up for things like a Tesco club card and if you’re shopping online use cashback websites. The savings might seem small at the time, but they will soon add up!
If you have any easy ways to save money on your food shop then we’d love to hear them.
