3 Ways To Get a Better Night’s Sleep

Although we can all cope with the odd night of interrupted sleep and not being able to doze off, if you’re suffering from night after night of not sleeping well then it can really affect your health. When you are sleep deprived it can affect things like motivation and concentration, as well as make you feel generally lack-lustre. So, here are some ways to help you get a better night’s sleep.

Make Your Sleeping Area Comfortable

Not all of us need the same things when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, so don’t just assume that any pillow or mattress will do the job. Instead, make sure you spend some time choosing all of your bedding carefully so that it suits you and your needs. Some decent blackout curtains can help too! We all need different conditions when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, so make sure you consider what you need and spend some time and effort making sure your bed and bedroom tick all of the boxes.

Get Into a Routine

Although it can be hard, a routine can really help. Of course, we all deserve a lie-in now and then but be careful not to lie in for too long if you can help it. For example, if you sleep in until midday on Sunday then you are probably not going to be tired at bedtime on Sunday evening, which means that you’ll struggle to sleep and that will leave you feeling lethargic and tired when your Monday morning alarm goes off – let’s face it, we’ve all been there!

How You Behave During The Day

Your behaviour during the day can affect the quality of sleep you get at night too – for example, if you have had a day at home without much exercise then you might find that when you come to get some sleep that night you’re just not tired. The same happens if you eat a big dinner too late at night. Try to pay attention to what you have done in the day that affects how you sleep and that way you can avoid them in the future if you need to.
