This year, possibly more than most, getting together for bonfire night with friends and family will be something we are keen to do. Choosing whether to attend an organised firework display or to have a home fireworks display is often a decision that boils down to safety and legal requirements being met.
Where Can I Let Off Fireworks?
In the UK it is illegal to purchase fireworks under the age of 18 and they can only be bought from suitably licensed retailers. Not all homes are suitable for garden fireworks. Obviously having a suitable garden is a must, you may need to check with your landlord to see if setting off fireworks is permitted if you live in rented accommodation
Setting off fireworks in a public place is not permitted. Neighbours too are owed a duty of care by you, so often even if your garden looks suitable, it may not be. Children and pets can be upset by loud fireworks so close to their homes; so it is a nice touch if you let neighbours know in advance your intentions to have a firework display in your garden. If you do not have suitable private land to hold your display, it is best to go to an organised firework display.
When Can I Let Off Fireworks?
Fireworks are actually permitted between 7 Am and 11 Pm every day, however, on Bonfire night the cut-off is extended to midnight. For New Year’s Eve, Diwali and the Chinese New Year, the cut-off is extended to 1 Am. If you are planning a garden display then looking at seating for everyone is a big deal – Hammock Heaven has loads of seating options, so finding something that suits doesn’t need to be an issue.
Attending an Organised Display
With organised displays becoming more vibrant and exciting each year, you are guaranteed to see a display of fireworks that would be impossible to match at home, so for this and safety reasons, I feel organised displays are the best option this November the 5th. After all, then you know everything is safe and you don’t have to worry about providing the entertainment, instead, you can concentrate on having a good time with your family – and what could be better than that?
