The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has a number of courses and exams for aspiring construction workers to study towards. The most important will be the qualifications associated with Health and Safety. The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is the minimum and starting requirement for most people entering the construction industry.
Career in Construction – Training within your relevant field
With the number of different career paths to choose from in the world of construction there is no right or wrong answer to what you want to pursue. You could look into a streetworks course, or an NPORS course – look into exactly what you want to pursue to really tailor your construction training.

If you have the appropriate training completed then you will be expected to have a CSCS Card. This is an identifying card of which there are different versions depending on what area of construction you work in and your level of seniority. There is a requirement for people within the construction industry to have a relevant Health and Safety qualification within the past 2 years.
