It’s not unusual for children to be shy and timid. As they grow up, they will develop new skills and become self-assured. Confidence is just as important as it’s what gives us the courage to try new things and put ourselves out there. This makes it vital for development and success in the future.
Self-Love
Going back to what we said earlier about confidence and how it originates from our strengths, it’s important that you remind your child of theirs as this will help them to be internalised. As a result, they will develop self-love and confidence.

Children mirror their parents so if you want your child to be more confident, you can do so by being a good example. You don’t need to be the most outgoing person there is. Just try to put yourself outside of your comfort zone, demonstrate self-love and acknowledge your strengths.
Help Them Find Their Talents
If they aren’t there yet, you can help them to find what they are good at. Schools tend to host a range of extracurricular activities for children to take part in before, during and after the school day. Whether it’s a sport that they want to explore or chess, they will be bound to learn a thing or two about themselves, even if they aren’t directly related.
Meet New People
These things will all help them to become more confident in theory but what they really need is hands-on practice to meet new people and throw themselves into new and potentially scary situations. That might be to go on play dates with other children, visit friends and family or join a club of some sort where they must interact and work with other children.
If you have any tips on how to help a kid become more confident we’d love to hear them.
