With the abundance of science in the world it’s no wonder a lot of us appreciate the many advances science has brought us. Children should also feel the wonder of how much science has helped us grow and also how they have made our lives all the more easier.
Every school will have provisions to teach your child about how important science is to their education in their curriculum, but you can boost this interest in the subject at home. Here are some ways to raise the science lover in your child.
Make time to incorporate science into their everyday
Having a world filled with science will make things easier for both you and your child. Thankfully there is a lot of science in our daily lives and we should take advantage of this. For example, point out to your child what makes their favourite games work, or show them what goes into making a TV or a car run properly. These small things will begin to get the ball rolling and make your child realise what goes into things they interact with every day.

Provide a space for open conversation
Children will, and should, feel open to talking about anything that springs to mind. If they ask about why the sky is blue, or why it changes colour when it’s raining or when the sun is setting, explore it together. If they wonder often why different plants are different colours then it’s a good time to get out in the garden and explore biodiversity. Let your child be in control and get them asking plenty of questions.
Get experimenting!
Kids love to have fun and play, of course! So why don’t you put together some mini experiments for them to try out? Have a go at making explosions with cola and mentos, making slime together, even baking a cake involves a lot of science.
