It can always be a bit challenging when you think about going on a vacation with a toddler in tow. Most toddlers love their own surroundings and get used to being in a certain routine when at home. To avoid those tantrums and meltdowns whilst you are on a staycation with a toddler you want to make sure you have packed all those essentials and that nothing is forgotten.
To help you be organised and make sure you pack everything you need for your staycation we have compiled a little list of all the essentials you will probably need. The last thing you want to do is arrive at your staycation and realise you’ve left important objects at home.
What Do You need?
When on a staycation you can usually be more flexible about the amount of luggage you take and you won’t have a set limit like you usually would when travelling abroad. Especially if you are driving to your staycation you can usually then pack those few extra outfits and favourite toys without worrying so much.
Pack Lots of Clothes
You should ensure when packing for a staycation with a toddler that you have plenty of outfits so that you are well-prepared in case of accidents or if the child ends up messy. Depending on the weather and your location you may also need sun hats, swimming stuff and plenty of sun lotion. You should ensure you have a few different options of shoes like trainers, wellies and sandals so you are prepared for all weather. Ensure things like coats, hats and umbrellas are packed as these may also be needed. We would recommend 3 outfits per toddler per day to ensure you always have a change of clothes as we all know how messy toddlers can get.
Getting a Good Sleep
You should also pack everything you need for your sleep routine to ensure that you can still do your nightly routine as much as possible so you can still sleep and get some rest whilst on your staycation. Ensure favourite books, snuggly and dummies are all packed so that these don’t ruin a good night’s sleep. If your child is potty training you may also need to think about packing nappies and a portable potty.
